Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
